Lost and Found

This is Lucy, who has been big news here in Canton, Ohio. I wanted to share her sweet story with you. The saga started when Lucy’s family drove to Canton for the Pro Football Hall of Fame celebration. Unfortunately, they were involved in a car wreck, which (of course) scared the beejeesus out of Lucy, so she ran from the crash site and hid. Local social media pages carried pictures of the terrier mix, and a reward was posted, but it turns out Lucy takes hide-n-seek very seriously. Finally, after a month, local rescue group JJ’s Ruff Roads was able to find her. Here’s a link to the beautiful reunification video. And it pays to become famous. Lucy got to ride home to Oklahoma in a private plane! I’m so glad they got back together. Here’s the story from the Alliance Review. Until next time, Good day, and good dog! Emaciated Dog Recovers In Loving Foster Home

Image
WARNING: Images may be disturbing to some readers. An abandoned, malnourished dog named Khaleesi was near death when someone rescued her. She was so emaciated that her ribs protruded out of her body, and she couldn’t support her own weight. Her condition is very similar to the formerly malnourished rescue dog named Ethan . Mutty Paws Rescue is working hard to save Khaleesi. Every day she has small improvements, but she still has a long way to go. Luckily, she has the support of dog lovers around the world. Plus, the people responsible have been arrested, so she’s also getting justice. Khaleesi Keeps Fighting Ashley Howard allegedly abandoned Khaleesi in Lehigh Acres, Florida after only spending five months with her. Animal rescuers rushed Khaleesi to the ICU, unsure if she would survive. At the time, they thought she was a senior dog because of her appearance, but she seems to be no more than a year old. The poor pup was only skin and bones, but she seemed trusting of new peop...

Family Claims Shelter Won’t Return Their Stolen Dog

Image
When Fayette County Sheriffs raided a puppy mill in Georgia in 2021, they turned all the recovered animals over to the Fayette County Animal Shelter. Among those survivors was an American Bully dog, who a local family alleges actually belongs to them. The family’s dog Porkchop had been missing for months, and they were shocked to see a picture of her coming from the animal shelter’s Facebook page. Hoping to prevent Porkchop from being adopted out to someone else, they immediately contacted FCAS. Unfortunately, the matter would be a little more complicated than just picking up the dog and going home. Jewell Andrews, who claims to be Porkchop’s rightful parent, described the situation to CBS 46 : “That dog went everywhere with us, our kids love the dog, she’s part of the family. We appreciate [the sheriff and shelter] for getting those dogs out of the situation. I am more than grateful and thankful because we never thought we’d see her again.” Porkchop Reappears Unexpectedly ...

Florida Woman Drives 17 Hours To Reclaim Her Long-Lost Dog

Image
If you’ve ever hesitated for even a moment about microchipping your dog, this story may make you change your tune. This month, the information on a dog’s chip scanned in Fort Wayne, Indiana, led a surrendered pup home to his rightful person… 1000 miles away. Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control took in Capone after his current owners surrendered him. They had recently relocated to Indiana from Florida. Fortunately for Capone, the shelter always checks their intakes for microchips. Holly Pasquinelli, community relations and education specialist at FWACC, told WANE: “Just like we do for all of the animals, we checked for a microchip. Often we find that the microchip goes back to a previous owner or, you know, maybe he was found somewhere and has been rehomed since. So we always do that as a safeguard.” That essential step turned out to be extremely important for Capone’s future. The microchip showed that he used to belong to a woman currently living in Florida. A Cross-Country...

A Support Dog Saved This Veteran Suffering From PTSD And Alcoholism

Image
With special skills and specific training, dogs can really help people suffering from PTSD. Not only does their presence and unconditional love provide comfort, but they can prevent bad nightmares and steady people experiencing dizziness or disorientation. Paul Wilkie left the Armed Forces after 22 years to return home to Perth, Scotland in 2012. He got a new job in law enforcement and reunited with his wife, but things soon took a turn for the worse. PTSD Took A Huge Toll On Wilkie’s Life In a deeply personal and moving essay for Metro , Wilkie explained how a car accident that October triggered his PTSD: “That one accident unlocked decades of memories I’d buried; the horrors of war, of seeing friends blown up into the pink mist, of being held at gunpoint. I was having vivid nightmares, and flashbacks throughout the day – I was constantly on the edge of being triggered.” As many do, Wilkie turned to alcohol to numb the pain and suffering he endured. This, in turn, led ...

Excited Dog Complicates Couple’s Gender Reveal In Hilarious Way

Image
For some dogs, getting a human sibling is thrilling. Yet, others experience more jealousy. Either way, dogs want to make sure they’re still the center of attention, and they’ll do anything to get the spotlight. A French Bulldog mix named Doobie wanted to make sure all eyes were on him even before the baby arrived. During his parents’ gender reveal party, he caused some complications, which postponed the anticipated news. But did the pup do it out of excitement or spite? Only Doobie has the answer. Gender Reveal Gone Wrong Marie del Rosario and Jasa Grant, who are from Winnipeg, Manitoba, hosted a party to reveal the sex of their baby. They had a giant balloon that was filled with either pink or blue confetti. They wanted Doobie to do the honors, and they filmed a video of the precious moment. However, the event didn’t go as planned. The couple lowers the balloon, so Doobie can reach it, and he jumps up at full speed to bite it. Instead of popping it, his nose bumps it so hard th...

Police Rescue Dog Chained To The Beach & Left To Drown

Image
A young Pit Bull chained to the beach in Revere, Massachusetts left dog lovers horrified. Not only did his human abandoned him, but he was at risk of drowning during the high tide. Animal rescue advocates rushed to save the confused canine. Then, police worked hard to discover who had left the innocent dog to die. After a thorough investigation, the person responsible has been located and questioned. While that individual claims they had their reasons for doing this, officials are not convinced. There’s no good excuse for leaving a dog to drown, no matter the circumstances. An Unfair Fate The 50-pound dog known as “Killer” was left chained to a metal pole on the beach. The suspect also attached a heavy rock to the chain to make escape impossible. This innocent Pit Bull was found in a secluded area of the beach, close to the water. If no one found the pup in time, he would’ve drowned. High tides can cover the entire beach, and the dog had no way of escaping. “During certain pa...
